What you need to ensure great wedding photographers.

  1. Give your photographer plenty of time to work
  2. Do not be late, ever
  3. Make sure you like your photographer and they like you
  4. Have a clear idea about what you want with regards to your pictures
  5. Be as co-operative as you can with your photographer – after all they are just trying to do their job
  6. Do not behave badly – bridezillias are very hard to shoot
  7. Don’t have a list of more than around 12 group photographs – or you will be sorry and your guests will hate you
  8. Don’t get drunk the night before
  9. Everybody is more beautiful after a good nights sleep, that is why it’s called beauty sleep
  10. Make sure you eat during the day, there are never any good pictures when the bride passes out
  11. Hire a wedding planner, it takes away a lot of the stress

Help your photographer to understand you better.

It is only natural that the better your photographer understands you and your wants, the better your photos will be. You can help your photographer to understand you in several ways…a few ideas to start with ..

1) Be available to meet with them before your big day for a coffee and a chat. This gives you key bonding time! Bonding is vitally important, after all you will be spending a lot of time together with your photographer on the most important day of your live.

2) Bombard them with information about yourselves. Your story, your tastes, your dreams, desires and fantasies. The more you talk about yourselves the more familiar your photographer will be with you.

3) Make a collection of personal photos that you love, or photos/poses that have caught your eye from fashion or bridal magazines. Ask also to see their portfolios and work examples. Show them which images, styles and poses that you like the best. This gives a great idea of your tastes and how you want your wedding images. Tell them what your must have pictures are.

4) Tell them about your complexes and pet hates. If a photographer knows in advance what you feel sensitive and shy about, they will know how to avoid and work around these.

5) Find them on Facebook and connect your profiles. The information on your profile will tell your photographer a lot about who you are.

Reasons to get married during weekdays and why to avoid Saturdays & Sundays part ten

If you are considering eloping then I recommend you only consider a weekday wedding for a mixture of all ten reasons put together. You need to choose a day where you can get the most out of your special, intimate day together, and choosing to pass a quite intimate day together on a Saturday or Sunday is never going to work. If you want to share a quiet prosecco together in the piazza, or an ice cream on the beach you will less flustered by crowds during the week.

Reasons to get married during weekdays and why to avoid Saturdays & Sundays part eight

We all want to feel like the only girl in white on OUR own BIG DAY, but if you choose a popular location to get married in, given any Saturday or Sunday during spring/summer, it is highly likely that there will be more than one wedding going on. By choosing a day in the beginning or middle of the week you are less likely to cross paths with another bride and groom in the same place or piazza.

Reasons to get married during weekdays and why to avoid Saturdays & Sundays part six

Public church/religious ceremony schedules are naturally heavier during the weekends. Priests, Churches and Civil ceremony grounds are extremely busy on Saturdays and Sundays and usually take on double bookings. This means often you can be (diplomatically) rushed out of a church/religious location after your service, as another ceremony is waiting to start. Choosing a weekeday avoids this problem and also gives you more chance of finding your first choice of Church or Religious venue grounds.

Reasons to get married during weekdays and why to avoid Saturdays & Sundays part five

Hotels, Bed & Breakfasts and Residences are also more likely to have availability for both yourselves and your guests during the week. This is particularly important if you have a large guest list, and are looking to create a holiday group feeling, with all your guests staying in the same hotels and close by to you. Some places also offer group booking specials, and considering a week day might help you to get all your guests into the same places.

Reasons to get married during weekdays and why to avoid Saturdays & Sundays part two

You ‘ve chosen a weekend, but aren’t an early bird that caught the worm, and then you find your dream venue, planner, florist or photographer just six months out from the big day. If they are good more than likely they will already be booked, which might break your heart. Consider a week day around the same period and you might just find your luck. Monday to Thursdays are more likely to have schedule gaps.

Reasons to get married during weekdays and why to avoid Saturdays & Sundays part one

Choosing a weekday in the beginning might seem like a crazy idea, but nowadays it really isn’t that mad. If you think you can cope with a weekday, you will have access to a larger range of the best service providers. Usually weekends (especially those with public holidays tagged on either side) are booked out a year or so in advance, so if you aren’t one of these early birds your choice is immediately cut in half.

You think you are ugly.

Why is it that us girls have to wait till we get old and wrinkled to realise how beautiful we were? Anyway, you think you are ugly and there is nothing I can say or do to change that. You can however adapt your wedding outfit to conceal to be your worst points and accentuate your best points. It’s all about balance. For example;

You don’t like your face?

Wear a nineteen twenties box hat or a broach hair slide with a short net covering half your face. The broach can be a beautiful focal point. If you have a long neck, wear long chandelier ears, which will again draw attention away from your face.

You have flabby arms?

Flabby arms but your shoulders are your best feature? You wear something off shoulder with off shoulder drapery sleeves (1970s) or carry a delicious shawl.

You are very short?

You need a short twinkly wedding dress with slinky shoes and your hair should be worn up.

Bridal Beauty Emergency Plan Strategy Four: The Beautician Part seven

What to order?
A few days before:

6.Eyelash extension

“What no mascara?!” I hear you gasp. For an extra sexy but surprisingly natural look, try eyelash extensions. They look six thousand times better than normal fake lashes. Eyelash extensions don’t lash very long but they look AMAZING. The last long enough for a party and a honeymoon, a girl doesn’t need them to last much longer than that.

7.Pedicure & Manicure

Please can you all stop with the porno star French Manicure. Please. A French mani can look cute if you don’t have those dangerously long nails porno stars insist on sporting. Personally I find such long nails completely unsuitable considering their line or work. Not that I would like to compare brides to porno stars. My point is that if it looks trashy on someone who is trying to look trashy, imagine what it looks like on a bride.

Bridal Beauty Emergency Plan Strategy Four: The Beautician – Part one

What to order?

Electro Stimulation – every day if possible (is this or is this not an emergency)

Now I know this sounds scary girls but it’s less painful than it sounds and very effective. Electro stimulation is particularly effective for difficult to work on muscles, like bottoms. Basically they strap your body with little electro pads, which send little shocks to your muscles. This causes the muscles to contract, the way they would if you were exercising. The stronger you can take the shock the better it works. If you are starting an exercise routine, these little electro sessions will really help you. You will see the benefits of both much quicker since they compliment each other.

Bridal Beauty Emergency Plan Strategy Three: Exercise – part five

Tricks to help you get into exercise B

3.Espresso & chocolate before you work out

Now I’m breaking some rules here, and going against my advice of avoiding caffeine & chocolate, but we can always make exceptions when we must, and if I just can’t get going then an espresso and a small piece of chocolate help me to start exercising. They encourage me and give me a little rocket boost of energy to tackle the hardest part, the beginning. A small piece of a Mars bar or such has between 200 to 300 calories. About half an hour’s worth of workout will burn a small bar of chocolate but you will need to sweat.

4.Working off the stress with visualisation

If you are angry, stressed or worried about anything, get on the treadmill. First you warm up, then visualise the problem in front of you. For example, picture the guy who ran over your cat and scream at him in your head. You will be surprised how fast you can go. Keep going till you feel no anger, depending how much you have. Not only will you exercise harder for longer you will also get rid of unwanted feelings by burning them off. Double bonus.

Bridal Beauty Emergency Plan Strategy Three: Exercise – part four

Tricks to help you get into exercise A

1.Get an instructor or exercising partner.

This is a commitment on your part and you will be far less likely that you will skip a session if it means letting someone else down. You are also less likely to hurt yourself with an instructor and they can help you work on your weak points.

2.Consider step or dance classes

Personally I always stuck my nose up at any form of exercise class. Shying away because I thought I would be useless due to my lack of coordination. But who said the point was to be the best pupil in the class. Once I gave lessons a chance, I found that I was so busy concentrating on the steps that I broke a sweat without realising. I find distractions like people and music are most helpful in breaking through the pain barrier. I once had an aerobics teacher who picked on me non stop, on all of us actually. His intension was to make us angry because when one is angry the energy levels go way up. I often left the class wondering what his problem was. Two years down the line I consider the man a genius.

Bridal Beauty Emergency Plan Strategy Three: Exercise – part one

A challenge, choose a day you are feeling sluggish, swollen and generally ugly. Look at yourself in the mirror, take careful note of the way you look and how you feel. Go for an hour’s worth of hard exercise. The most strenuous you can manage; push yourself as much as you can. Now go and have a look at yourself in the mirror. Everything will instantly look and feel better.
The biggest difference will be the way you feel. You will feel positive and energised but also oddly relaxed. The harder you push the more the difference. All the oxygen, which has been pumped into your skin, will make it glow. Your muscles will have been filled with blood, so your body will be firmer and smoother. You will be more relaxed, sleep better and become regular. All of which will make you your most beautiful.

Bridal Beauty Emergency Plan – Strategy One: DIET– part eight

This is going to make me hugely unpopular but you know it’s an emergency girl, so cope. Alcohol. It’s a waste of calories, which need to be dedicated to nurturing your hair and skin. It stops you from exercising the next day, fills your liver with toxins and slows everything down.
You have to because of some party? Stick to spritz’s and champagne. The calories are slightly less than those in hard spirits, beers and liquors. Not to mention that they work faster and better thanks to those bubbles, which means you need to drink less.

Bridal Beauty Emergency Plan Strategy One: DIET– part seven

Metabolism Stimulating Diet

Our aim is not to suddenly drop huge amounts of weight but to detoxify, stimulate your metabolism and nourish your body. This will not only improve the way you look, but it will drastically improve your state of mind and energy levels. Instead of focusing on what we are not allowed, we need to focus on adding things to our diet. A good step is to include as many detoxifying and nutritious ingredients possible into your diet. The good news is the more the merrier.

Foods which help you to detoxify your body:

1. Fruits
2. Green Foods
3. Lemons, Oranges & Limes
(Note: start each day with a warm cup of water and lemon juice to clean your liver)
4. Garlic
5. Broccoli Sprouts
6. Green Tea
7. Raw or juiced Vegetables
8. Seeds & Nuts (no butters or salted nuts)
9. Omega-3 Oils

Bridal Beauty Emergency Plan – Strategy One : DIET- part two

Metabolism Stimulating Diet

Add as much fruit to your diet as you can bear. Even if you like just one kind of fruit, it’s important to give your metabolism a lot to work with. When we starve ourselves we slow down our metabolisms and when we start to eat again the body takes precautions against the famine it has been experiencing. The precautions involve storing everything you eat as fat. So a good trick is to eat a lot of that, which does not make you fat. Good examples are watermelons, lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, spinach; basically raw fruit and vegetables. They will fill you up, detoxify you, nourish you, keep your metabolism up, quench you, drench you and the fact you don’t have to limit your intake will help with compulsive eating urges one experiences when dieting.

Often the assistants take the best images

It often happens that I will be stuck upon the alter during the rings with the strictest priest known to the Vatican and someone in the front row will begin to sob. I can’t move unless I want to donate my liver to the priest for his dinner. So I have to do what a good team player does and pass the ball. With a quick flick of my eye, my assistant will realise that their job depends on pouncing on the moment. The result, they get to shoot all the juicy bits, they wonder round happily hunting carefree without any responsibilities. Sometimes at the start of the day I will give them a brief framework but mostly they are a happy go lucky tribe who have it way to good.

I have including a whole bunch of my favourite pictures from Francesco, Kim & Zoë’s portfolios.

In twenty years from now.

Your wedding photography will increase its value as the years pass. Many women and brides are not happy about the way they look. When brides cry out that they are hideous, I tell them that I promise that in twenty years from now they will not feel the same way. Just think of yourself twenty years ago, no doubt you think you were beautiful then. It’s youth, it’s only once it’s gone that we realise how beautiful it was and how we just did not appreciate it. So for the person you will be in twenty years time, take the time to take some portraits on your wedding day, to remember how beautiful you were.

A very subjective and overly simplified summary of the evolution of wedding photography – part six

Crudely put, if a photographer is suspiciously cheap and busy, it’s because there is a crisis on. Good photographers are never cheap, unless they are just starting out. Like five star hotels anywhere in the world charge more or less the same fees, it can be said that you can judge a photographer by their fees. If they are charging a lot and you can’t get a booking, you can bet your last euro that they will be worth the money. It stands to logic, especially when there is a financial crisis on the go.

A very subjective and overly simplified summary of the evolution of wedding photography – part two

After Joe Buissink revolutionised the whole wedding world, we all jumped on a very comfortable bandwagon. All of a sudden wedding photography was not so frowned upon, mostly because it was so lucrative. Everybody did and everybody wanted only reportage.

Crazy women all over the world were paying ridiculous amounts of money to have the photographer of their choice shoot their wedding, even if it meant flying them in. The destination-wedding photographer was born. Brides began saying things like, “from the minute I saw their pictures I knew they were the one, and I could have no one else”. Brides began to select their wedding photographers as carefully as they selected their husbands. Wedding photography became a priority for the wedding budget. And many destination-wedding photographers still lead the life of rock stars; flying all over the world to party and make huge amounts of cash at the same time.

A very subjective and overly simplified summary of the evolution of wedding photography – part one

Not too long ago wedding photography was absolutely the most uncool and lowly photography career you could ever choose. Many photography students have sworn on their dog’s grave never to stoop to such levels. I am one such student who now has to eat her words.

Thanks to the great Joe Buissink, all that has now changed. Twelve years ago Joe Buissink showed the wedding world a new freer approach to wedding photography. The man took exception to being paid less than what was paid for the cake since the photography was the only investment, which lasts past the wedding day. He introduced the world to reportage and gave little thought to traditional rules of wedding photography. He was willing to pay the price of grain for the beauty of the moment and natural light. He focused on the moment but not being a purist he also shot portraits. For the first time wedding portraits were influenced by both fine art and fashion photography.

He is rumoured to charge ten thousand dollars just to pitch and then all orders are extras. Joe Buissink forever changed the lives of wedding photographers the world.

What every Bride really wants on her wedding day – part two

We have established that all girls want to be perfectly beautiful on their wedding day and that perfection does not exist in reality. Which spells disaster. So.. what can go wrong? The list is endless and you should expect the unexpected.

Due to stress, girls loose and pick up weight. Okay, few of us want to gain weight but why would it be upsetting if we loose weight? Well because if you are wearing a strapless dress, the dress will fall down. But it could be a number of things, which can turn a blushing bride into a raging bull. Solution? Make sure your photographer can touch up, be realistic and develop a sense of humour.

What every Bride really wants on her wedding day – part one

Each and every time a bride has ever had a nuclear melt down it has been because she did not like something about her appearance. She may have tried to cover up seeking a scapegoat like the colour of the flowers but nearly always it’s because of insecurity.

Brides fantasise about how they will look down to the finest details. In fantasies things can be perfect and in reality they cannot. Naturally this nearly leads to great disappointment. Every bride, even if she will not admit it, wants to be perfectly beautiful.

What makes JoAnne Dunn Photographers Different?

They treat each wedding they way they would treat a commercial assignment. We seek direction from the client and do not limit ourselves to only one style of photography. The couple are sent a form about a week before their wedding. This will be their brief to us describing their vision and fancies. Each wedding is approached individually to make sure the results are as individual as our clients. After the wedding we send you around nine hundred great pictures to choose from. You send us your choices and we create your album. We then put the album on line for you to approve. The clients are involved in the creative process and their album creation from beginning to the end. JoAnne Dunn Photographer’s are different because they understand their clients are all different and want different things. We are different because we put your vision before our own.

The Relationship between the photographer and her subject

The relationship the photographer has with their subject will hugely influence the results of the shoot. Basically if your photographer can’t bear you, then their pictures will reflect that. This can be used to your advantage, taking the time to bond with your photographer before or on the day will radically improve your pictures. Never choose someone who you feel you can’t trust. Trust is vital if you are to be yourself in front of the lense. Because you will need to let your photographer into your world and because you will need to follow their suggestions, you will need to trust them. So it’s a two way street, you have to also really like and trust your photographer to get great pictures.

Posing for Bridal Boudoir Photography – part 03

Another trick is to be lying down. We all look a lot better on our backs. Seriously, gravity pulls all the extra bits down and even the face become more attractive. The floor also offers a great prop for creating sexy lines like those produced by an arching back.

High heels are another great way to improve your boudoir images. High heels not only give your legs more length, they also give your great calf muscles and make you walk up straight.

Posing for Bridal Boudoir Photography – part 02

Practise, practise, practise makes perfect. They day of the shoot is the wrong day to try out new poses. You need to keep a scarp book of poses you like, taking into consideration your complexes.

What exactly is good posture? Well we are not talking about the posture you do in finishing school. Bottom and breasts out, tummy in and head lift as though it’s been pulled by a cord at the base of the neck. Nearly everybody benefits from lifting their chin a little, it removes annoying double chins.

When you hire a videographer from another company.

It can happen that a bride prefers the video services provided by other companies. Then it’s absolutely imperative that it is explained to both service providers which service is to take priority. Both service providers need to meet before the wedding to agree on positions. It’s also worthwhile considering the styles of both. For example if you hire a reportage photographer but your videographer is invasive, it can lead to conflict. When a videographer is not part of our team or not willing to be co-operative we can end up wrestling for positions, getting in each other’s images and eventually fighting. All this will obviously effect our work negatively.

The facts about our video service.

One has to make a decision about what is most important to you; video or photography. Unless you want your wedding day to turn out to be a full on production, you have to give priority to one. To do a high quality video you need, a hair mike and a sound guy, two video operators (one with a tripod and one with a steady cam) and a lot of time. Video takes more time than photography because you snap a picture and it’s done. Video you have to let time pass. When video services are provided at this level it will cost as much if not more than photography services.

It is very difficult to shoot a wedding properly when two videographers are pushing you out the way. We offer a discreet backstage reproduction of the day with as little fuss as possible. Our studio gives priority to the photography. However if the videography is more important to you we also offer HD video services.

What if I want my pictures to look like fashion photographs? Part one

The first thing you need to insure is that you give me more time to work. That is the number one big difference between the quality of the two types of photographs. Even better if your fashion portraits are shot on a completely different day. By removing the distraction of guests, family and other service providers, not to mention the limitations a schedule enforces, the picture will undoubtedly be of a better quality.

The pictures included in this blog are a mix between fashion and wedding portraits. Can you tell which are which?

Advice for a speech – part three

Don’t drink to get more courage. Because you will forget your lines and may be tempted to push to boundaries to get a few laughs. There are few things as embarrassing for anyone than a drunk speaker who can’t get it together. Let’s not forget the video operator who will be there to record your foolishness for life.

Remember to thank everybody. Traditionally various members of the bridal party have specific people to thank. There can be few things as cruel as a bride who forgets to thank her parents for such a wonderful wedding.

Advice for a speech – part two

The funniest speeches often have two speakers. I have seen friends dressing like the couple and putting on little shows. This is really fun if you are good at mimicking and really know the couple. To guarantee humour have the bestman play the bride and the maid of honour could be the groom.

By writing a cheesy poem which rhymes and is completely individual, you can grant yourself permission to read and be cheesy. People want to laugh at a wedding. They don’t want you to experience an award silence. You would have to be awful for them not to laugh. So as long as you make it about the couple and from the heart they will laugh at a corny poem. I promise.

A master of ceremonies

What often happens to me at a weddings is that I get told by the priest to get everybody out of the church because mass is about to start, so I shoo them all outside. In the nicest possible way but no matter how nicely a stranger bosses you about, it’s annoying. Then we go to the cocktails and the staff tell me dinner is served and I have to herd everybody to the hall. By this stage everybody has decided I am a witch from hell. Between the herding and the thirty six deep group list the bride gave me, everybody hates me by dinner. And it’s not my fault and it’s very bad for pictures when everybody hates me.

If there is a master of ceremonies he or she can boss everybody around and no one will mind because that is what he is supposed to do. Which just leaves me the problem of the thirty six groups to do in half and hour.

Time alone together – part one

It’s really important to set aside time to take pictures of you two alone as a couple. So many couple allocate a small amount of time to this task on their wedding day. What always happens is that things run a bit late and this times get cut because it’s the only dynamic feature of the day. Meaning the food can’t wait or it is spoilt . So when you allocate twenty minutes to take pictures together rest assured that you will have no more than ten minutes to do so. Between getting to a place which has great light and trying to cajole pictures out of clients this often means the pictures are compromised.

For this reason often the eloping clients pictures are so much better because I have a lot of time. But by being on time, allocating at least an hour to these images and being co-operative you insure your pictures will be great.

Capturing Romance without being cheesy – part one

My instructions to a couple when we begin their portraits is to try and ignore us. The more you are focusing on the feelings between the two of you the better the pictures will be. Sure there are couples who freeze like rabbits staring into headlights and those I have to help along. I find a little liquor helps, especially the boys.

I also find a few laughs and giggles work. Once again we can see how important it is that you really like and get on with your photographer. Nothing worse that not sharing the sense of humour of your photographer and cringing every time they open their mouths.

Having Fun …

Another element which is absolutely essential when creating sensational wedding images is fun. If you feel like you are being tortured you will look like you are being tortured. Happy ugly people having fun are a lot more beautiful than miserable ugly people hating every minute of it. I know this sounds quite rude but I just want to make a point. So many perfectly gorgeous brides say I hate having my picture taken. So many things I don’t like about myself. Now I am really going to get hardcore.

“GET OVER IT ALREADY”. You are young, healthy, in love and able to afford a wedding. So you are not Kate Moss. Unfortunately you will only realise how gorgeous you are today when you really get old and ugly. And then you will wish you had not wasted so much time on nonsense and had more fun.

The engagement shoot

A couple we shot late October in Positano chose to do engagement pictures before the wedding ceremony . They wore clothes instead of the wedding dress and suit and we played around Positano for about two hours. At first I thought it was a silly idea, untill afterwards I considered how much nicer it is to have normal clothed portraits on your walls at home. They are both creatives from New York, so it was fun and easy to get into that creative zone.

The advantages of doing an engagement shoot, even on a separate day to your wedding are many. Firstly it gives you a chance to get comfortable with your photographer. It also helps your photographer get to know you and your face. At which angles you look best and what you like. You also get to understand the creative process and get a feel of what it is like to be “shot”. Better not leave too many surprises for your wedding day.

Creativity – the special zone – part 01

Creativity is such a mysterious and sacred thing. A little like a butterfly if you try to hold or control it, you will most likely damage or destroy it. Only when you sit calmly, will it come and rest quietly on your shoulder. Creativity is the act of play. Children are so good at creativity because they are not usually victims of worry and high expectations. They live in the moment. Not thinking how things should be but rather rejoicing in how things are. The number one ingredient is learning to live in the present. Spending your time in your past or future completely ruins the creative process. You need to be present to be creative.

Real hardcore reportage

Nearly all brides say I want reportage images with as much discretion possible. Then they hand me a list of thirty groups they want taken. I bamboozle them into having a few portraits and they end up being their favourite images. Reportage is great, I love it but it’s not enough. Did you know real reportage does not include details, landscapes or portraits? Couples often spent very little time together on their wedding day, so it becomes almost impossible to take good portraits of the two of you without a little direction.

And be honest, we all want to look good on our wedding day. To look your best you need to do a little… dare I say it again… posing? See previous blogs for more on posing.

Creating a fabulous after party

Most venues in Italy have rather strict cut off times. This can be very disappointing around twelve when the party is just getting into swing. The solution is a fabulous after party. These generally work for slightly bigger weddings of fifty or more people. During the course of the evening you generally loose the old folks and the parents of young children. So if the party is too small it can end up being a bit sad.

Coming back down to reality to ensure a beautiful wedding

I have seen it many times, a bride’s wedding ruined because the reality just can’t match her fantasies. When a bride says to me, “ I just want everything to be perfect”. Just? Well I can promise you one thing about each and every wedding, it’s never ever absolutely perfect.

Just all depends on your attitude. If you build up this huge expectation in your head it’s very unlikely reality has a chance to match your expectations. If you start to notice what is not the way you imagined it would be, everything will seem to be going wrong. But if you focus on the many things that are right, all the people who have contributed to your day and realise just how lucky you are, you will be filled with gratitude and gratitude breeds joy.

Some more frequently asked questions – part 04

How long after, the wedding, will it be before we see our pictures?

This is dependant on both the type of package you choose, and also yourselves. For the digital packages (in which you just receive all of your photos on DVD), these are turned around in usually within a week. If you choose to have an album with your package, you will be first given all of your proofs (small images of all the photos), usually also within a week, and from there you are able to choose the photos that you want to include in your album. The album is then carefully put together in studio here, and will be ready 3 months from the day that we receive your choices.

Will our pictures be posted on your website? What else will you be able to do with our pictures after the wedding?

Your pictures that you choose to include in your album (should you choose an album), will be posted on our website, which you can login and access with a personal password.

Some more frequently asked questions – part 02

What time of day is best for the photos? We have the church booked at 4pm and then the reception drinks will probably commence about 6pm?

Perfect – sunset hour and out of the unflattering harsh sunlight of midday.

Will we agree a set of “must have” formal photos?

Yes – about a month before your wedding, I will send you a ‘about you and your wedding form’. Here we go over all of the things you want included or don’t want included, important family and friend group photos. Also if you have any self-conscious aspects that you don’t particularly like photographed, we address it all.

Recipe for a perfect wedding album

60 reportage photos
10 group or formal portraits
1 collage of landscape images (6 or 12 images in the collage)
10 individual portraits of bride and groom (5 each)
1 or 2 collages of details images
15 couple portraits

Leave a little room for the unexpected. For a truly sensational album make sure your photographer is “hot” and will let you participate in the creation of your album.

Tips to ensure a bride’s comfort on her wedding day – part 01

1.The white umbrella

If you don’t buy a white umbrella, I promise you will need one. I am not a superstitious person but every time I bring an umbrella to a wedding it never rains. When I have forgotten, we have ended up being stuck with the most hideous umbrella’s imaginable.

2.Make sure you have something gorgeous to put on if it gets cold.

I could not count the times I have been to a wedding and the bride has the shakes from being cold. Often the passing of the stress of the preparations causes a strange kind of exhaustion and strangely this makes my lovely ladies in white feel the cold all the more. The English and Irish brides seem to suffer from this lack of preparation the most. Perhaps coming from cold countries they expect Italy to be hot, but these days one can never tell.

Introducing Kim

Kim is my star pupil. Perhaps after working for me so long and seeing nearly every picture we ever shot, she has a natural affinity for our style of photography. After three years of intensive training, she has amazed the old timers among us. Sometimes it’s hard to break professional photographers out of the restrictions they impose on their work. Kim’s work is fresh and lacks those dull traditional images. Almost invisible and very sensitive, she captures the most precious moments without disturbing the moment. Kim is also one of the kindest and lovely humans I have ever met.

Introducing Tommaso

Tommaso – is highly regarded in both the Italian Photography and Videography field. Based for years in the stylish Cava di Tirreni, Tommaso joined Joanne Dunn Photographers in 2008 for a hand in photography outside the square. With his effortless charm and attention, Tomassso has built a remarkable reputation in reportage photography. An English-speaking assistant always accompanies Tomasso.

Introducing Antonio

Antonio – Hiding amongst some the best reportage photographers in south Italy, Antonio has accumulated years of experience in classical Italian wedding photography. A perfectly adorable gentleman, with absolute discreetness, Antonio works diligently to ensure not a single moment is lost. Antonio joined Joanne Dunn photographers in 2008 for a taste of something different. With minimal English, we ensure that Antonio always works with an English-speaking assistant at his side.

Our Photographers

We get many more requests than we could ever commit to. During this crazy wedding adventure, I have come across some very talented young photographers. Photographers interested in working with us and prepared to learn to shoot in our “fusion” style of photography. Each has shot weddings with me and have all been given training to shoot in our special style. For the next few days I will be introducing them all to you.

Wedding in Puglia

I have only done two weddings in Puglia but I have to say I was very impressed. The towns and landscapes are gorgeous. The sea is a startling colour and things are fairly priced. Easy to get to because of the Bari airport. Both weddings I did were held at Masseras (which is an old farm estate). The architecture is wonderfully simple and graphic. Hinting to Greek and North Africa architecture. I found the people to be very friendly and on both occasions there was not a hitch in organisation or service. If you would like to put in contact with an Italian wedding planner who does weddings in Puglia just contact us.

Wedding in Venice – part 03

The Cons of getting married in Venice:

  1. Too many tourists, hard to shoot in the most famous places without looking like you are just one in a million. Though this can be overcome if your photographer knows a few secret places.
  2. Never be late if you are getting married in Venice. There are no cars, none. So if you are late you have to run or catch a boat but they are only allowed to go very slowly. Be warned if you catch the wrong boat or bus it can cost you hours.
  3. Everything is already very expensive but if they see you wearing a wedding dress the price doubles.
  4. The place is so full of tourist traps that your wallet is in constant danger but with a little intelligent exploration, like following Italians in to a restaurant you can find real treasures.

A Message to Guests – the case of the poor wedding photographer – part 02

So I know we don’t feel like it on the day or maybe you just feel like you don’t look good in pictures. Non of us like the way we look in pictures. But believe me in twenty years time you will think you look fabulous. The photographer is not trying to take your picture and sell in on the black market. No they want to do their job as best they can in very limited time. So if you are mean or impatient with a photographer you will probably get your wish and not be photographed, but on behalf of the you that will exist in twenty years time. “Give us all a break!”

My favourite locations 15: Castellamare Bikini

Into pulp? Want something really Italian but a little kitsch and atypical? Try Bikini, complete with a little fake island with two palms. I think if you go Italian cocktail chic and make your theme colour gold this venue could rock. If you go classic romantic you will look silly here but if you do super polished gangster chic. It could work but you would need to have seen every Tarintino movie to pull it off . You would also need to be two crazy extroverts who might hire Brazilian dancers to start the party after the cake.

“Bikini enjoys an extraordinary view of the Naples Gulf and accommodates up to 160 people in a divine outdoor setting. Guests enjoy a genuine kitchen from the sea, completed with typical Italian dairy products and fine Italian wines. The restaurant brags with excellent service, hospitality and professionalism. With a background of a splendid nature and a wonderful seascape, lovingly protected and put in light, it is depicted as an island of comfort and serenity.” Direct text from Castellamare Bikini website

My favourite locations 14: Massa Lubrense: La Conca del Sogno

This is probably the most original of all the suggestions i have for you. You load all your guests into bots from a small port just after Massa Lubresnse. The boats can meet in the middle of the sea for a quick toast and off to the restaurant Lido) on the rocks. With many terraces which go out into the sea. Where you can spend the night dancing and feasting on Oysters. The restaurant is not the prettiest but the location is so great nothing else matters. The price is also probably the best you will find and the quality is fantastic. Though not trendy and chic it does give you the possibility to party till sunrise.

“La Conca del Sogno stands alone upon land which after the war was used exclusively for rock excavation. The private and hidden cove is in a splendid position within Marina del Cantone, shortly after the Sorrento Coastline. With some slightly modern touches, this secret location remembers its small beginnings and reflects some of the old traditions that started this adventure.” Direct text from La Conca del Sogno website

My favourite locations 13 Milan: Villa Perego a Cremago (Erba)

You know those places you go to in your dreams, where your love chases you in misty hedged labyrinths? Well that is the atmosphere at this villa. Classic and refined, yet a little bit of eccentricity floats on the air. The food was good though I think it was catering. There is a gorgeous space for cocktails and a dream like hall with huge French windows for the after party.
“Villa Perego di Cremnago is a prestigious monumental complex open for weddings. This magnificent complex consists of a palace by the Architect Piermarini, stables by Simon Cantoni, a private chapel painted with XVI century frescoes, an XVIII century lemonhouse house and three big charming gardens. The whole complex has been declared an Italian National Monument since 1906 and it is known as one of the most precious houses in Italy.”Direct text from Villa Perego e Cremnago website

My favourite locations 11 – Capo la Gala Resort – Vico Equense- Sorrento – Italy

Most people who come to Italy want something classic and old looking for their wedding venue. Naturally the Italian feel a little different living here. Many prefer something a little more modern. Capo la gala is the perfect solution. Right on the sea in the rocks the venue is fresh and sleek. With a dark women decked pool with a deep blue bottom. It’s an amazing place to take photographs and because it caters almost exclusively to Italians the food is ridiculously good. Be warned, just because it’s not on the tourist route does not mean it’s cheap.
“Hotel Capo La Gala is situated in one of the most picturesque corners of the Bay of Naples.
Due to its central position along the Sorrento coast, Hotel Capo La Gala is half way between Pompeii and Sorrento, an ideal spot in the midst of historic, archaeological and natural sites. The soft lighting, the gorgeous views out to the blue Mediterranean, makes for unforgettable sunsets and a fairy tale, romantic atmosphere.” Direct text from Capo la Gala website

My favourite locations 10 – Hotel Luna – Amalfi – Italy

This is not the most perfectly polished hotel but I love it. I love the courtyard and the architecture of the old convent. I love the restaurant which is in the sea (well almost). BUT if it rains the inside is cramped too rustic for my taste. Even though the restaurant is across the road from the hotel, I have not actually done a wedding where guest were fed inside the hotel. I imagine that would be very pleasant. I once saw the most delicious fashion shots taken in the hotel. And it’s one of the most affordable on the coast.

“Situated in an old cloister founded by St Francis of Assisi in 1222, this is another perfect place for a wedding. Its charming chapel is used for wedding ceremonies and the cells that once housed the pious monks have been transformed and given all modern comforts, while holding on to an air of serenity. The hotel’s breathtaking views provide an idyllic backdrop for your day.” Direct text from Hotel Luna website

My favourite locations 09 – Santa Caterina- Amalfi – Italy

Food is good. The garden is sweet, though small. The deck on the rocks has potential especially during full moon. The staff are friendly though very traditional and a little rigid. But I have only done one wedding there and it rained and the bride was not very easy. Therefore my first impression may not have been sparkling but I think it has potential.

“Santa Caterina enjoys a panoramic coastal setting of incomparable beauty at the summit of an extensive property. It begins at the Amalfi drive, whose curve hugs the hillside, and tumbles down to the water’s edge in a series of landscaped natural terraces.” Direct text from Santa Caterina website

My favourite locations 08 -Il San Pietro – Positano – Italy

Now I have not actually ever done a wedding at San Pietro, though it’s world famous for it’s list of clients. Every famous or infamous person who has stayed on the Amalfi Coast has almost certainly stayed at the San Pietro. From Rock stars to presidents. I am told that it’s the best but I have also been told that the decor is very outdated and 1980′s. Not good. The gardens look amazing from the sea. But I repeat it’s in my list just because out of respect, it a classic old timer. A bit like the Rolls Royce of the Amalfi Coast. Not everybody’s taste. Unless you are a rock start or a president that is.

“Surrounded by scented Tropical and Mediterranean gardens, Il San Pietro di Positano overlooks the world famous bay of Positano. San Pietro has a perfect harmony of luxury and simplicity, which is the secret to a private and charming hotel.” Direct text from Palazzo Murat website

My favourite locations 07 – Palazzo Murat – Positano – Italy

The gate, doorways, windows, and furniture have such gorgeous shapes and styles. I love the size of the rooms, windows and beds. The garden is a frame for a truly unique skyline. The organic frame is trimmed with mountains, trees and the dome of the Cathedral. The food is also seriously good and I have found the staff to be friendly and considerate.

“Housed in an old seventeenth century palace, Hotel Murat has been refurbished in the style of the Neapolitan baroque school of Vanvitelli, carefully conserving its architectural flourish and period objects.” Direct text from Palazzo Murat website

My favourite locations 03 – Hotel Caruso – Ravello – Italy

Hotel Caruso has won awards for having the most beautiful infinity pool in the world. Here quality is guaranteed. They are true professionals, experienced and classic in their style. The gardens are simply exquisite and all the rooms are suites. It’s a feature of luxury and comfort.

“Narrow alleys carved between stucco-fronted houses lead you to Hotel Caruso. Have your wedding set against the panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea or directly on a private section of its lush terraced gardens. The breathtaking views of the Amalfi Coast guarantee that your wedding will be special.”

My favourite locations 02 – Palazzo Sasso – Ravello – Italy

Sasso makes the best Bellini’s in the whole world. Seriously ridiculously delicious. Then if you love food the restaurant will make you fall in love. Gorgeous architecture but one of my favourite features is a gorgeous sculpture woman frolicking in the fountain. So many gorgeous places to take pictures but they can only cater to smaller weddings.

“This is a stunning five-star deluxe hotel that overlooks some of the Amalfi Coast’s most picturesque fishing villages. The hotel is a 12th century Italian villa whose beauty and tranquillity have inspired many famous personalities. General Eisenhower was a resident when he was planning the attack on Monte Cassino, and former guests remember Ingrid Bergman and Roberto Rossellini giggling over dinner in the restaurant.” Direct text from Pallazzo Sasso website

My favourite locations 01 – Villa Cimbrone – Ravello- Italy (part a)

Cimbrone is my absolute favourite venue EVER. It’s just the craziest place. A little difficult to get to due to it’s location. You can’t get closer than a fifteen minute walk to the gate. The swimming pool was built with a donkey and a helicopter. Being family run it’s service is personal and friendly. The gardens are what dreams are made of and the views are indescribable, so I won’t even attempt. have a look in the gallery on my website.

Not Eating on the day

It’s one of the first questions I will ask a bride when I arrive. Why? Because if you don’t eat, get nervous, run around in a big hot dress in the heat, cry and have to stand for hours… you will get into trouble. Okay so you usually starve yourself and you can handle it. Well add a glass of sparkling wine to the equation and well it could even get embarrassing. I know the last thing you feel like doing is eating. SO I recommend easy healthy high calorie foods. That way you won’t have to eat much and you will keep going. I like bananas, nuts, fruit, cheese and if you just can’t do solids try a fruit shake.

Why do you have a booking manager? 02

Secondly I need to focus on photography. We get many more requests than we getting bookings and keeping admin in line is not any easy task. And I did try once to do it all myself but my photography really suffered. Instead my booking manager arranges meeting with clients who are sure and keeps everything perfect. I could never get through a season without my booking manager. If you ask me at anytime if I am free for a date. I could not tell you. Unless of course it’s next week. A booking manager means my mind will be free of red tap ready to focus on your wedding.

Why do you have a booking manager? 01

Firstly I can not handle clients and money. I feel it’s such a personal service I feel bad charging and get all weird about things. It’s hard to insist you are worth a certain price. I give away a lot and give huge discounts. Well I was, that is untill my booking manager banned me from discussing money with clients. I can only do so many weddings a year before I start to loose my hair. So my booking manager tires to get me the best work and prices available.

Flowers in your hair

Real flowers are fabulous but by the end of the evening they droop, and leave you looking tired and worn. I like flowers in the hair, in many different ways. And although I HATE fake bouquets I like fine fake hair flowers. Peonies, orchids, even butterflies. Love crazy early seventies big hair adorned with flowers. But they need to be well made. They are often gorgeous with feathers. I like head pieces in general though unless a tiara is a rare art deco piece it’s likely that it will make me yawn.

Bogging yourself down with too many groups.

Many brides give me a long list of groups they want on the day. They have no idea how long it takes to do so many groups. For example ten groups taking 6 minutes each (depending on their size and the discipline of your guests) will take about an hour to do. It’s difficult because you also don’t want anyone to feel left out. I also recommend that any photos that you want done as individuals is done before the ceremony to take a little pressure off the schedule after the ceremony. For me it’s really funny when a bride swears at me when I produce HER list at cocktail hour.

Should I feed my photographer? – Part one

This is a difficult one. In Italy the photographer considers the meal as part of the deal. However we consider it a privilege and so you just need to let us know if you feel it’s asking too much. That way I can organise something with the venue but I do need to organise something since I cannot work more than five or six hours without a at least snack. I run around a lot and I have to refuel. I don’t expect to eat what your guests do but a simple pasta and a coke will do nicely. And maybe a quick espresso. So no you don’t have to feed your photographer but at least let them eat.

My Favourite colour schemes.

  1. From Lavender to Deep Purple.
  2. Beiges and Creams with touches of Black.
  3. A multitude of crazy colours but having a theme, all pastels, all darks or shade of pink.
  4. Shocking Pink with Baby Pink.
  5. Greens and Whites are pretty
  6. Yellows, I hate to say it, they have crept into my heart, especially bright and pastel yellow
  7. Never been much of a fun of Reds for weddings unless the bride wears Red shoes
  8. I love Black and Xream, bridesmaids dresses are so stylish in Black

What is hot? – part one

Gloves: don’t even think about any gloves which go past your wrist. No chiffon or satin girls, unless the satin is brushed. Go for the classic and timeless look of Jackie O. The 1950’s look is going to be huge for a long time in wedding photography and styling. It’s clean and glamorous. It’s the new classic and rightly so. Think Channel and remember to keep it simple. Get the majority of your images shot in black and white. And you may consider a little hat and veil. Understated chic.

Looks I love.

I want to start a craze, a craze which will save brides every where. Do you know the very first thing every single bride says to me when she puts on her wedding dress? “I am hot”. They sweat. Make up runs. They turn pink. They can hardly move or sit. They don’t feel sexy. They feel stiff. For 90% of us, white is such an unforgiving colour and the poof meringue style dress suits few. And those pointy witch shoes have to go girls. They look like yachts. At best the good witch from oz. I want to introduce a crazy idea and wait for it girls. Take a deep breathe….

Colour coding your guests

If you have ever worked as an extra in the film industry you will know how the work with colour in crowds. For example dressing the whole crow in varied shades of blue. The image naturally seems more harmonious. Sometimes I will go to weddings where the bride has chosen shades of pink and then every time I try to shoot the crowd two or three people will be wearing, rusty orange, yoke yellow or brown. So then, you can’t see the bride. When you look at the image you just see the people who are the contrast. By asking your guest to wear shade of a colour which compliments your choice of colours you will really improve your images.

Don’t travel on your wedding day

So I know I have harped on about this before but I just cannot emphasis it enough. Try not to spend a lot of time travelling on your wedding day. Now this might sound obvious but some brides want it all. SO they get dressed in Positano… then they take an hour and a half windy road drive in the summer heat and chaos. They get married in the Duomo in Amalfi and then they have their reception in Ravello. Which between traffic, robots and the walking will cost at least 40 minutes of time. And I mean at least. So you if you are lucky you will loose 2 hours and 10 minutes of party and shootings and daylight. A WASTE GIRLS!!!!!!!! It’s the one thing you can’t order extra of – TIME.

Who can get away with tanning.

  1. very dark skinned people
  2. people with unusually even skin tone
  3. people who are used to seeing themselves tanned
  4. when both partners are fairly similar in skin tone

I say this cautiously because when you make yourself a dark red colour and your skin is tired and wrinkled, it becomes difficult to do a pretty picture. Especially when you are wearing white and if your partner is the colour of snow. Further, if you are trying desperately to look slimmer and try a tan for the first time you might never look at the pictures and feel like you are looking at yourself.

Quick Ceremony tips – part 2

When you are putting on the ring – take a deep breath first to calm nerves. It will go on – so don’t worry about fumbling and making a muck of it. Also try not to cover the ring with your hand – you will want a close up of this photo, but it will be impossible for your photographer if hands are over the top.

Ensure that your priest or celebrist knows your full names and pronouncation like the back of his/her hand. This can save embarrassing muddle ups.

Reserve seats for family members in the first two seating rows. This can be done cutely with nice name cards (e.g Father of Bride, Mother of Bride…etc etc)

Hints on Guest speeches

Choose very wisely who you ask to speak.

If you have lots of people (family or friend groups) that you want to speak, see if they can’t get together and present one speech on behalf of the group .

Don’t force people who you know aren’t confident speakers to give a speech. If they refuse on these grounds, it’s not because they love you any less. Perhaps they know they are doing you a favour.

Give time limits to people, and ask them to stick to them. Long speeches are never fun for anyone, and can put a real stop to the flow of your evening.

Funny speeches work, as long as no one is offended along the way – there is nothing better than a dining room full of people rolling on the fall laughing, as long as they are ALL laughing.

Ask guests for paper copies to for keepsakes (even rough ones)

Crazy wedding dress ideas for the eccentric bride – part 02

Browns – expensive but still cheaper than a wedding dress

ASOS – just put in your dress size, white or cream and off you go

All Saints – yummy yummy but you need to be super cool to the bone to put it off

Vintage – for a dash of vintage which is all the rage right now

Net-a-porter – expensive and could be as expensive but if you scratch you will find hidden jewels

Selecting the images

Now if I do a good job this will be the worst job of your life. So where to start. Download the preview/ web folder onto your computer. Throw away those you hate. Start three folders, Love, like, unsure. Start to make a time line putting the most important and liked images in first. Many have to stop right there but if you don’t have enough in the love folder you can dip into the other two. Put them in order. Show them to close family and friends for opinions. Then do what your heart tells you.

How much of each style of wedding photography?

Reportage 70%
Portraits 10%
Details 5%
Groups 5%
Landscapes 5%

And lets save 5 % for the unexpected. The perfect balance is different for every couple. Some couple elope and it’s just the two of them. It’s impossible just to do candids of two people. As a general rule of thumb it’s harder to do reportage the smaller the group. With elopement couples we tend to like portraits the most. But we also do albums which are one hundred percent reportage. Many couples ask for reportage but when they show me which of my pictures they like, they nearly always show me posed pictures i.e. portraits which do not look posed.

Looking at the camera.

One of the quickest and easiest ways to make a portrait look natural is to have the subject not looking at the camera. The best is to completely ignore your photographer, unless asked to do otherwise. This does not mean you have to turn your back on them, but by not making eye contact with the lens you will help create natural images.

How do I know if you are the photographer for me?

Have a look at my website to see the weddings displayed there from beginning to end. This way you can be sure I offer what you are looking for.

It is important to realise that the images, album, etc. are only part of what I offer. I also pride myself on offering the best kind of personal service. I encourage you to discuss all your thoughts and concerns with me. Each and every wedding is important to me and I spend a lot of time and effort on every detail, before, during and after the wedding. To get really good pictures you need to feel there is a friend who has an idea of who you are and what you want from the day of your wedding. I consider it part of my job to go this extra mile, since my photographs will be all that remain after the cake has been eaten.

What can I do to ensure that my photos will be great? – Part 01

It is important to realise that my level of photographic skill remains the same for each wedding. What makes the difference between “good” and “great” photos is when my clients have gone that extra mile. I love it when my clients play along with me, rather than try to hide from the camera.

Do we get to keep the negatives?

As I shoot digital, the negatives are essentially a DVD. As mentioned above, if you wish to purchase the DVD with the best 350 images of the day, this will be your set of negatives, which you can use to print and reprint as you wish. I also keep copies of the photos on DVD as a backup both for myself and for you.

What does ‘touching up’ photos mean?

When I touch up an image I use a computer program to bring out the best in a photo. I may make a number of alterations, from covering up any skin blemishes or imperfections to improving the light and enhancing the colours, for example bringing out the blue in someone’s eyes. This is done very subtly so that you would never know the image had been altered unless you had seen the original photo.

Will there be any posing for photos?

I do not pose my clients into over-romanticised, traditional poses. I may offer a few suggestions, like looking in a certain direction or trying not to smile for a few “serious” photos, but my usual instructions to my clients is to act natural and try to pretend I’m not there. This can be difficult initially, but believe me, after half an hour or so you will get so used to me that I will become part of the furniture.

Images to capture after sunset – part 03

Lastly there is dancing, cake cutting, bouquet and garter throwing. One easy trick which really helps with dancing photographs. Most people turn their back when a photographer wants to shoot them dancing. If you start showing off or dancing for the camera you will be shocked to see just how quickly and enthusiastically your guests copy you. And it will make for FANTASTIC pictures. Just take a look at the pictures from “Suzie & Craig’s” wedding on my website.

Time to work – part 02

If you want images that look like they belong in fashion magazine 30 minutes is the minimum time you can expect to invest. Often things run late, and then I have to do all the groups and portraits in ten minutes. So I rush everyone about, end up being late, the guests and chef hate me and the bride would like to know why her pictures don’t look like “Amanda and Dylan’s”. Well Amanda and Dylan gave me literally 6 hours to shoot their portraits. Exaggeration? Perhaps but the photographs rock.

Time to work – part 01

The best images on my website are the best because I was given time to work. The more time I am given, the better the pictures will be. It’s simple, the more one shoots the better the odds of great images. This does not mean that you have to take the biggest package but rather that you give your photographer at least 30 to 40 minutes to do portraits and half an hour to do groups. It’s just not possible in any less.

Show time.

I love the idea of a show or cabaret. A little entertainment is always a welcome distraction during a wedding. Ideas range from the truly daring to traditionally elegant. Fire blowers, burlesque show, the circus del sole, a Robbie Williams impersonator or my favourite the “singing waiters”. The singing waiters pretend to be guests and waiters at your wedding before bursting into song. It’s so much fun and the guests love it. There is something just sublime about live entertainment. I adore the musicians supplied by Marco Canterella’s “Wedding Music”. Ranging from Jazz, opera to Italian folk music. Italian folk music is really something to consider, it gets everybody dancing since it infectious and fun.

When will we bring in a little extra lighting?

If you know you are going to have quite a few very long speeches you need to let us know. Or if the speeches will be in a very dark place. In both these situations we would bring along a small video light to help guarantee the quality of the video images. Low light can create a lot of grain. If it rains we might also bring in a little video light for the photography during portraits and groups. A cake cutting outside maybe beautiful for the human eye but the cameras often need a little help.

Good lighting at your venue – Part 02

We adore first dance and speeches against windows or doorways with the sunset. This is not always possible but by doing both before the dinner begins, means you can almost certainly get some great skies through glass windows and doors. If you are going to use candles as a major part of your lighting, at least double what you think you need. When it comes to candles and photography, you can never have enough candles. And there can be nothing more mystic and romantic than hundreds of candles.
